América’s attacking prowess was on full display from the outset. Henry Martín opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a clinical finish, setting the tone for a commanding performance. Salvador Reyes extended the lead in the 38th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by the Revolution. The final nail in the coffin came in the second half, as Brian Rodríguez converted a penalty kick in the 65th minute.
The New England Revolution, who had impressed in the previous rounds, struggled to match América’s intensity and quality. Coach Bruce Arena lamented his team’s lackluster performance, saying, “We came into this game with high hopes, but América was simply too strong for us today.”
Club América will now face CF Monterrey in the semifinals, in a tantalizing all-Mexican clash. Monterrey advanced after defeating Atlanta United FC 3-1. The first leg of the semifinal will take place on March 8, with the second leg scheduled for March 15.
América, who have won the CONCACAF Champions League seven times, are determined to add another title to their storied history. Coach Fernando Ortiz praised his team’s performance, stating, “We played with great heart and determination tonight. We know Monterrey will be a tough opponent, but we believe we have what it takes to go all the way.”
