Quarterback Situation Settled, As Moss Sits with Hamstring Injury
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Quarterback Bo Nix was cleared to participate in practice Friday and is ‘good to go’ for the Denver Broncos’ Week 1 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, according to head coach Nathaniel Hackett.
Nix, who missed the preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys with a bruised foot, returned to practice Thursday in a limited capacity. He participated fully on Friday and did not show any lingering effects of the injury.
“Bo looked good out there today,” Hackett said. “He’s healthy and he’s ready to go. We’re excited to see what he can do in the regular season.”
With Nix cleared to play, Brett Rypien will serve as the primary backup quarterback behind Nix. Rypien has been preparing all offseason to take over as the starter if needed, and Hackett has confidence in his ability to lead the team.
“Brett’s a great quarterback,” Hackett said. “He’s smart, he’s tough, and he’s a leader. We know he can come in and play well for us if we need him to.”
Moss Sits Out with Hamstring Injury
While Nix is healthy and ready to go, there is one player who will be missing from the Broncos’ lineup in Week 1. Cornerback Riley Moss strained his hamstring in practice this week and will not play against the Seahawks.
“Riley tweaked his hamstring in practice,” Hackett said. “He’s day-to-day, but we’re not going to risk anything with him. We want him to be healthy for the long haul.”
With Moss out, the Broncos will likely start veteran cornerback K’Waun Williams opposite Ronald Darby. Williams has been with the Broncos since 2021 and is a valuable asset to the defense due to his experience and versatility.
Broncos Ready for Season Opener
Despite Moss’ injury, the Broncos are feeling confident heading into their season opener against the Seahawks. Nix is healthy, Rypien is prepared to step in if needed, and the rest of the team seems to be ready for the challenge.
“We’ve had a good offseason and a good preseason,” Hackett said. “We’re excited to start the regular season and show what we can do.”
The Broncos will open the regular season at home against the Seahawks on Monday Night Football. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET.
The Broncos received some good news on Friday with Nix being cleared to play in Week 1. However, they will be missing Moss due to a hamstring injury. Despite Moss’ absence, the Broncos are confident heading into their season opener against the Seahawks.
